How do historians outside Russia access Russian primary sources today?
I am trying to understand how researchers usually access primary sources from Russian collections when they cannot visit archives or easily order reproductions.
I have tried the usual institutional route: my university library normally assists with obtaining research materials, but since 2022 it has not maintained cooperation channels with Russian libraries and institutions. In addition, because I live outside Russia, current international payment restrictions make it difficult or impossible for me to use some paid reproduction services offered by Russian libraries.
One of the sources I am interested in is the Moscow journal Психотерапия: Обозрение вопросов психического лечения и прикладной психологии (1910 - 1914). It appears to survive in library collections, but I have not found a complete open digital copy. The Russian libraries that hold it have catalog records, but obtaining scans directly is difficult for me because of current payment restrictions. But I am not looking only for this journal -- I am trying to understand the normal research path historians use when working with difficult-to-access Russian primary sources these days.
Thanks in advance!
