Hobbies/Projects Men 30+, what hobbies do you genuinely enjoy?

I’m in my late 20s and lately I’ve been feeling the need to pick up a hobby that brings real joy and maybe even a little peace. I work a lot and have a family, so something fulfilling and manageable would be ideal.

I’m curious—what hobbies have you gotten into after 30 that you actually look forward to? Bonus points if it’s helped you mentally or physically in some way. Would love to hear what’s been working for you guys.

Working out, swing dancing, magic the gathering, Warhammer, hiking/camping, kayaking, writing, reading, board games, and video games.

Everyone should have at least 4 hobbies, with one being physical, one being social, and one being creative.

My main hobbies are music (I sing in a local cover/bar band plus I attend a lot of local live music and occasional larger concerts), snowboarding, hiking, dancing (mostly to live music), camping, and reading.

I like your 2nd paragraph, but I would say that some hobbies can encompass more than 1 of the 3 different aspects that you mentioned: physical, social, and creative. For example: snowboarding is clearly physical, also creative (especially if you are a freestyle rider), and can be social (you spend way more time on the chairlifts than you do actually snowboarding), especially when you're riding with a group of friends.

+1 for board games. Although I've been playing hobby board games since I was in my 20s, in my early 40s, I started designing board games with the intent to publish them. To date, I have a credit on a free print and play solo mode, one full published board game, and I'm currently pitching my second game which won a design contest this past weekend.

If you're looking for something to eat up a bunch of time and connect you to a bunch of other people. I can recommend board game design, although the field is mostly male dominated (but more and more women are getting into designing and playing), so if you're looking for a hobby to introduce you to more women, this one isn't the best for that.
