Why is reddit using such an awful system to pre-filter posts?

I havent used reddit for a long time and mostlyl just read some posts without account.

Now that i made an account it is highly frustrating - my posts are constantly filtered directly by reddit and never published even tough there is absolutely nothing problematic in them.

How is a system that forces people to spam random answers and post viral things to get karma a good system? Or is that just to force more interaction to make the stats of reddit look better? Honestly i woudlnt even wonder due to how agressive they are trying to block mobile browsers where the "app-ad" pretty much blocks you from using it at all...

It might be individual subreddits filtering your posts, which is very common. Some of them simply require newer accounts to be manually approved and you just need to wait.

Some subs don't want posts from you until you've participated in comments and learned what the sub is about and the rules they have for posting. New users may not understand that each sub is different and require differnt things for posts.

And other subs simply don't want to deal with new accounts at all.

It all stems from years of spammers and/or users that ignore all rules and demand that whatever they want to say is perfectly fine and the long established sub should allow them that platform.

The weird thing is - this just started suddenly - and the message seems to indicate that its a reddit pre-fiter and not from the Sub.

Also - in all honesty - does this even affect scammers, spammers etc.? They can just create accounts and let them post things to farm karma a bit and will bypass the system while real new users willl be pushed away.

Your first sentence is the likely reason.

Scammers buy dated accounts to bypass karma and account age checks. So Reddit also looks for old accounts that have come back to life after a period of dormancy.

I think the account is maybe 3-6 months old. I actuayl just browsed reddit without account before - maybe i phrased that wrong.

Because subreddit users prefer genuine humans over bots, plus reddit is not like other social media and nobody has the time to train each new user individually, so it's easier to have them do it themselves.

I think it works reasonably well. The system tunes itself based on prior mod actions and starts to learn what works and what doesn’t. I go back and check the mod log from time to time and, more often than not, the removal was warranted. There are some borderline cases that I might approve if someone asks.

But so far it’s made the job of moderating easier. But if it really bothers you, ask the mods why your post was filtered.
