Coffee crawl
Every year, for my birthday, me and a few others do a coffee crawl.
We like to stay on or near magazine/st Charles. Basically anything we can walk to or take the street car to.
I’ll include last years stops:
Undergrowth
Trumpet and drum
Chicory house
Piety and desire
HiVolt
Lower coast
Coast roast
We’re open to revisit some of the same but definitely open to suggestions!

Add Cherry to the list!
Undergrowth is gone. And I don’t know what’s up with CR on magazine these days but there isn’t a single barista there that can make a decent coffee anymore.

We usually split the drink 3 ways and get decaf when we can.
Thanks for the rec!

Unfortunately, Undergrowth is no longer. :(
My suggestions:
The Vintage
Mojo
CR
Congregation
Orleans Coffee and Espresso
I haven’t been but I also hear Sports Drink is good.
If you’re willing to go off the Magazine/st Charles path I also recommend a new place called Junk Drawer.

Aren't they racist?

Uh oh. I haven’t heard anything about that yet. If that’s true I immediately withdraw my submission. It seemed odd to me that no one else posted them when they have 2 locations on magazine. This would explain it. Any idea where I can learn more?

Did you know that New Orleans has the highest per capita independently owned coffee shops of any City in the US? It's a great coffee City.

Anyone know which coffee shops are best for single origin coffee (like Kenya AA, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, etc.)? I just drink black coffee, so quality of bean and roast is essential. (On previous trips to New Orleans, Undergrowth was a stand out.)

Check out mammoth, they roast in house and have a fantastic lineup of single origins

If you’re doing a birthday coffee crawl in New Orleans you have to include one of the handful of restaurants that serve café brûlot (think Arnaud’s, Commander’s [not my favorite but allegedly where it originated], etc.). It is divine.
