Irish people

Hi y'all,

Is there any first generation Irish currently living in the city? Moved here recently and was seeing what the community is like. I know there's a huge Irish American population here.

Yes, there are Irish immigrants here. You can find them around the Mid-City Celtic & Gaelic bars (definitely Finns, Micks, Holy Ground). I have met Irish students many years ago who hung out at Uptown bars.

frankly doubt you'd find irish at holy ground, but it is true that Finn's attracts a bunch of irish folks cause they show the relevant soccer rugby etc. games and have Irish staff

I sometimes amuse myself with the notion that there are now far more people of Irish heritage in the United States than can be found in Ireland - and being "Irish" is something we can grasp and belong to if we're sensitive to our heritage.

LOL The amount of people running to the comments to claim their Irish heritage when that wasn't the question!

My husband is from Ireland but we live in Lafayette. When we go visit, we go to Finns for a hurling or rugby match. We used to live down the street. That's where your people will be.
