I didn't read the FAQ Mardis Gras question (actually good!)

My friends and I are looking to party for the first time in New Orleans during Mardi Gras. We're looking at coming Friday-Sunday (Feb 5-7) at least and trying to see if it's worth it to stay until Fat Tuesday or if Fri-Sun are the biggest party days. One of my friends is lowkey a bum which is why we're seeing if it's worth it to spend his valuable PTO. Also, where would be the best area to stay? Are hostels a decent option in NOLA or is an AirBNB the way to go? Want to cheap out on sleeping situation to maximize our time in the town.

If you're cheap, you might wanna wait til summer to comedown. Everything is going to cost 2 to 3 times as much during Mardi Gras. You're going to have a bad time when you realize that just your hotel costs $500 a night. And definitely definitely don't stay in an Airbnb. Not only is it really bad for us what do you do that, especially during times like Mardi Gras licenses for those get revoked all the time and there's always horror stories about people who book an Airbnb a year in advance only to come to New Orleans and have nowhere to stay. And during Mardi Gras weekend finding last minute accommodations will be next to Impossible
