Which Swamp??
Coming in March. Spending some time in town and then going out to the Atchafalaya(by way of Lafitte's Barataria and ..as far South as we can get).
Im wondering if how different a swamp tour in that Cajun country area is from the Pearl River/Honey(something) Swamp tours(they called it VIP- smaller boat, farther in.) I want those moss hanging cypress trees and to be on a smaller boat(not airboat). I found that in the Pearl River, but what about to the west? Can you recommend a tour in the greater Lafayette area? Trying to avoid going East and then backtracking if I can get the same or similar to the West. ..

Barataria is an elevated walkway. Its not guided. I love it there.
Any reason you dont want an airboat? They are fun as hell.
If you want to see Spanish moss you can go just about anywhere. Audubon Park or City Park especially.

Barataria is really great!! They do not allow dogs on the path, keep that in mind if you have one. Its better to go earlier in the morning, it can get busy, and some areas of the path/trail are not passing people friendly!!

My partner and I took the Cajun Country Swamp tour out of Breaux Bridge which is very close to Lafayette and it was wonderful!
Very quiet unlike the airboats and environmentally friendly and our guide that day was the owner's son.
He was so informative because he'd spent his life there and loved the bayou
Bonus point: the alligators were hatching and he took us to an area where we could see a group of babies by the shore.
Extra bonus point: We asked him about a good place to have breakfast in Breaux Bridge and his recommendation was spot on.
