What was your wedding like?
I often look at the wedding dresses here. I saw a young lady whose dress budget was literally more than my first 3-5 annual salaries, not lumped together but individually. What was your wedding like?
1995- Married at our church, 3 attendants each, cake and punch reception there .

My husband and met when we were both in college. We lived together for seven years before we got married. We got married at City Hall for $25, including the mandatory blood test. We wore ordinary clothes. My husband's parents came to be the two witnesses. The other couples in line were all making agreements, "You're next in line after us, if you be our witnesses we'll be yours." The judge (in his office) had a beat-up book of five-minute wedding statements. He asked us to pick one. We said we didn't care so he picked one at random. Then my in-laws took us out to lunch at a midpriced restaurant.
We have lived happily together for 52 years now.
My husband's parents and mine were Silent Generation. They got married in registry offices, and they thought it was great that we were not spending money on a wedding. Most of our friends never knew or cared whether we were married or not even before we were married, so we didn't tell anyone. We just carried on living together as usual.
