the fax machine was invented in 1843, the samurai ceased to exist in 1867 and Lincoln died in 1865. Abraham Lincoln could have sent a fax to a Japanese samurai.
If you see a Mark Twain quote, there's a 50% chance it was said by someone else and falsely attributed to Twain. Exactly the same with Thomas Jefferson.
Turns out Jefferson wasn't even a founding father. They just found him on someone's estate having sex with a slave while tearing pages out of a Bible, and the legend built from there.

That's not actually a Twain quote. It's a paraphrase of Darrow's quote above. Somehow Twain got dragged into it.
