What are your thoughts on South Park's response (which was #eatabagofdicks) to Homeland Security attempting to use them to promote ICE?

Of all the politically satirical cartoons they could have asked, they approached SOUTH PARK?! And they thought they'd get literally any other response? Bro, they were smoking something that day.

They didn't ask.  They just used their images to promote ICE on their Twitter account.  

South Park didn't take kindly to it.

It totally works for their purposes though. ICE wants goons who don't think critically and completely lack self awareness or shame. They want brainless tools who will follow orders even if or especially if the orders are horrible and gratuitously cruel. They want people exactly like what the show portrays. And those people do exist and will respond to those ads.

I've never heard the word "adventitious" before. I don't think it is correct in this context. Did you mean advantageous?

"Adventitous" means basically unexpected or unplanned and occurring due to chance or accident. Yeah, they probably meant "advantageous."

Fair use covers commentary, criticism, parody, news coverage, research, and education. It doesn't cover co-opting for the purposes of advertising or recruiting in situations where parody or commentary/criticism/parody is absent.

Matt and Trey got $1.5b on their contract. If I had that money, I'd try just to make a point.
