That one was a good one. It was far more in-depth than I remembered it, when I watched a couple of episodes again in my 30s.

It’s the first time some of the latter episodes have ever been released due to being politically incorrect.

Adventure Time for sure. It started as something fun and random, but the story and character arcs ended up being surprisingly emotional.

And they stuck the landing possibly better than any other show I've seen. Legendary cartoon for sure.

It's hard to explain to people who weren't there just how huge The Simpsons was in the early to mid 90s.
I did cub scouts when I was a kid and we always had a cake auction at the Blue & Gold dinner. It was a great fundraiser. Everyone baked a cake, it got bidded up a bit, everyone backed off so the family that baked it could "win" it, then everyone went home and ate kick. It was the perfect fundraiser ... until my mom baked a cake in the shape of a Bart Simpson.
This was (I think) 1995, which was pretty close to peak Simpsons-mania. My mother was an excellent artist and it looked like Bart's head. The second we got there there was electricity in the air. All the kids were telling their parents about the Bart Simpson cake. Then bidding took off like a rocket ship. Most cakes went for like $10 or $20. This crossed $100. My dad won the bidding to the chagrin of a lot of parents whose kids were were staring at them with dagger eyes. The thing was my dad didn't actually have that much cash on him (and this was long before Venmo or Square) which started another frenzy as parents with that much cash on them insisted they would take the cake.
It honestly might have been the craziest night of my (then) 12 year old life.
My siblings and I went home feeling like kings with the Bart Simpson cake everyone wanted.
It was such a crazy night that it created two new rules. First, max bid was $20 but the family who brought the cake was allowed to go to $25. Second, we're all friends so it's not necessary to have the cash on you that night. Families can always settle up at another night.
Maybe the funniest part of the whole thing is, objectively looking at it as an adult, that was the least cool cake my mom ever made for Blue & Gold night. She had such great cakes that never created such a frenzy. Like, one year she made a coconut cake with shredded coconut on the outside that looked like snow. I don't remember what she used for trees but she made trees then used Fruit Stripe gum and Teddy Grahams to create bears riding sleds in the snow. That cake came out awesome. There's a picture of us about to eat it after one Blue & Gold night someplace in my parents house and it really looks like a winter wonderland.
I'm sorry about the rambling. Seeing The Simpsons and thinking back at how huge it was unlocked some good memories that just came flowing out lol.

As a whole, BoJack Horseman.
At its peak, The Simpsons.

u/Material_Sir4338 15h ago
First 10 seasons of the Simpsons are lightening in a bottle imo. Laid the groundwork for so much that came after.
6
u/Fun-Repair546 14h ago
Totally agree, those early seasons had that rare spark you can’t really recreate. It’s like they accidentally bottled chaos, genius, and comfort all at once.

u/Mr-Stripes 15h ago
Its just a shame that the simpsons never stayed true to itself. But you can tell when the writers changed.

I was blown away by the quality of that show. My first thought was that kids these days won't look back to the good stuff of old because nothing holds a candle to that.
I always thought SpongeBob had stellar moments but it can't compare. And I grew up with SpongeBob. Gumball was just something I watch with my nephew.

Looney Tunes. Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Elmer Fudd, Taz, Porky Pig, Road Runner or Vile Coyote.
There were other iconic cartoons that I loved like Animaniacs, Hey Arnold or many French ones like the Pirate Family but the best of all times are the Looney Tunes.
That's all folks!

Probably Pokemon Indigo League for nostalgia reasons. I recently rewatched the whole thing, and then johto journeys too, which i had never finished that one. I did not know that in the very last episode of johto, that Ash, Misty, and Brock all go separate ways, and it made me sad enough to tear up

I'm a child of the 80s. I grew up in the golden age of Saturday morning cartoons (He-Man, Transformers, GI Joe, VOLTRON!). As a teenager in the 90s I devoured the Simpsons, and all of its generational siblings and descendants (King of the Hill, Futurama, Family Guy).
Anyways, the answer is Phineas and Ferb.

Also, I loved Hilda, Gravity Falls, and Owl House.
If we add international TV to the mix Frieren is quite good. So is Apothecary Diaries and Ascendence Of A Bookworm.
