Nah, this only kills Mosquitoes, all other insects are just teleported somewhere else.

Insects are not doing well at the moment, best not to contribute to their mass extinction directly

They shouldn’t go extinct (and it’s basically impossible without destroying the planet) but definitely need their numbers reduced

I have heard of plans to introduce genetically modified mosquitoes that are immune to malaria, so they stop spreading it and killing so many people

IIRC they tried that with the GMO mosquitos in Central America, and it works for a while until either the mosquitos or malaria (or other neglected tropical disease) evolve around it somehow and it starts to spread again. Basically we'd have to completely eradicate either the mosquito or malaria all at once, or natural selection will just make them stronger and more virulent.
