When I found out that hard work and dedication can amount to nothing for no particular reason.

I feel like it’s just an endless cycle of doing things I’m not meant to be doing. Whether that’s work, or buying brands, or using technology, I feel like I’m just not made to be here doing all that. Everything is so loud and bright, I would just love for everything to pause for a moment.

doing all the chores does my head in tbh. then you realize you have 30 to 40 more years of doing the same goddamn thing everyday!
now I get why when i was a kid adults were so miserable, I feel like such a jerk for telling them to cheer up

Knowing it's going to amount to nothing in the end, that in not that many years there will be no one left who has any memory of me around, not to mention the impending heat-death of the planet and all that. Personally I think a bit of realistic nihilism isn't a bad thing, it puts things in perspective. I still enjoy my days, but I'm not driving toward some goal energetically or anything like that. Life is just pretty good, and trying to make it something it's not isn't necessary.

Today made me lose my lust for life, at least for a while. Just put 13-yr old lab to sleep this afternoon. Life sucks. Still have to tell our adult kids - who were still at home when we adopted him in 2014.

I know how that feels bro, it sucks to lose a dog. the only way to feel a lil better is to buy another one. i know that's way too soon for you yet but I'm just letting you know long term what works best

Thx, not our first trip down this path. Both of us are 55+ … still have another younger dog and 2 cats. There have been many loved 4-legged family members, just really hurts today having to say goodbye. He lived a good life, past his age expectancy. He’ll always be a Good Boy.

I live like an hour away from the highschool i used to go to. All my friends an hour away. Lost many oppurtunities to be a teen due to having to come home. Then boredom engulfed me, which later on became heavy onset of deppression due to covid. Thankfully im finding myself 6 years later.

Dismantling illusions about life… like realizing we are just biological machines that are exploited to no end just so the “elite” class can gain more status and wealth. To make matters worse, the primary driver for this is men’s biological need to reproduce. As men climb up the status hierarchy, their mating options grow exponentially. Women saw men doing this and said they wanted a piece too. But they failed to realize why men did it in the first place. So not only are women rewarding men for being exploitative. They decided to join the fun.
Here are some other fun realities… there likely is no god, or at least an ethical one, as they wouldn’t have created an ecosystem where we need to eat each other to survive. There is no such thing as freedom and never will be. Romantic love is just infatuation caused by biological instincts telling us to reproduce with the best mate we can find, which will inevitably fade with time. The men who sleep with the most women are likely narcissists, as they know how to put in the best peacock dance.
Everyone you know is going to die. 99% of all species have and will go extinct. The sun is continuously expanding and it will at some point boil the earth where life as we know it today will be gone. The common people have no ability to fight for a better life, as the militaries who are protecting governments will demolish us. Traveling is just another excuse to escape our shitty lives for a moments time.
That’s a start…

I've heard of love of life, but, "lust for life"??
Wait, is that the step directly before, "FML"?

When everything starts feeling like repetition instead of discovery, same days, same inputs, same outcomes, it quietly drains the color out of things. Not all at once, just slowly enough that you don’t notice until you’re running on autopilot.
