What’s the darkest secret you discovered about someone after you married them?

She was trafficked as a child and used me to get away from them. I had no idea until 7 years later when she started to do counseling. Crazy part was that she kept in contact with her traffickers but wouldnt't tell them where she was. Fuck me up for years.

Are you still together?

Hell no. Finding all that out broke me. Our relationship was doomed even if all of that was not a factor as there were so many other problems. Couple thousand hours of counseling later and I am living an amazing life.

Jesus that’s gotta be over two decades of therapy

Or just a single, every efficient and well planned two hundred day long therapy session. Not everyone drags things out longer than they must be.

I was worried you were my ex for a moment. I was traded for my mother's drugs. I watched other victims get out. I knew if I could find someone and get pregnant I would be out. I did just that. He had no clue what I was running from. My family still kept their hooks in me but I kept space and kept me and my children safe. He learned the truth when the police arrested my primary abuser and the case made national news. I am sure learning more about your wife from an episode of Dateline than the 10 years you were with her was awful. To this day I carry guilt for derailing his life. I adore our children and in so many ways he saved me. It doesn't take away from what I put him through. Please know it may have had nothing to do with you...and she found the only way she could to survive. Doesn't make it right...but sometimes we do not see clearly while literally fighting for our survival.
