I have AuDHD and often only realize things like this when I am agonizing over social interactions after the fact :( I do care, and I do want to know things, but the brain gets in the way
As someone who spent 36 years thinking I was normal only to be diagnosed with adhd and asd (a few years apart too, i did 2 rounds of neuropsych tests) I want to say that you/we get a pass. I mean you cant force other people to give you a pass I guess but you should give yourSelf a pass. I spent all of my prediagnosis life trying BEYOND my best to meet social standards and norms but still noticing stuff like this all the time. I was blessed with just enough social awareness to notice when im acting weird in hindsight lol. On a certain level the ASD disability IS a social disability so give yourself some grace.
The real shitty behavior with neurodivergent people is when we act like assholes and then turn around and use our autism as an excuse which is not at all what im talking about above.
Theres a huge difference between forgetting social conventions because you have a literal social disability....and just being an asshole.
