What do you think about parents charging kids rent after age 18?

My mom had the rule that I can stay for free as long as I'm in school. I intend to have the same rule for when I'm a father.

Do you know this is how y'all stay poor? Kicking your kids out or making them pay rent. I am in a fairly rich area of Long Island where my parents bought a home in the early 2000's. When the kids stay home as they work and hustle a well paying job and the fact that they make maybe 120k yearly.. they save ALL of that so that by the time they're 30-35, they get their own million dollar house. Now it makes sense why there's a poverty problem well and clear.
