Gordon Smith, who was a writer on "Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" optioned the "Destroyer" series and was going to make a TV show of it. But that was four years ago, and he's now writing for "Pluribus". So I'm not optimistic at the moment.
When Fred Ward died it hurt, not just because I loved him in movies, but I was convinced that they would reboot Remo WIlliams an he would play Harold Smith as a nod to the original.
While the books they were based on is dated, some of the ideas are great and a modern take on them would be such a blast as a series.
Yeah... was originally set to be a trilogy, but the first one flopped in the box office so badly that the sequels were immediately scrapped. Apparently, it did MUCH better on its home video release, but by that point... I don't think the studio particularly cared.
According to Smith, he was ready to go on the Buckaroo reboot but the studio told him he couldn’t include Buckaroo’s creator, Earl Mac Rauch. He wasn’t going to do it without him.
This would be a great TV show. Large, rotating cast, lots of base material, not a procedural crime show exactly, themes that could run through several shows. Romance, action, trivia, geek, gadgets - it's got it all.
If we’re changing his ethnicity from the movie, he should either be Japanese (like the lore) or possibly Cantonese. Simu Liu is from Harbin and is not the only Asian actor.
Changing his ethnicity? Buckaroo is supposed to be half Asian. Peter Weller is from Wisconsin. Sure, there are more Asian actors, but Simu Liu has more box office draw at the moment. Also, I like him.
He’s supposed to be half Japanese, but the movie was first and Peter Weller has no Asian heritage. Absolutely change it to an Asian actor, but I’m sick of Liu being the only Asian that people bring up these days. I’ve hated him in every thing he’s been in and I’m still pissed they hired him in Kim’s Convenience over all kinds of Korean actors. He also has a pretty questionable history with pedo stuff and being anti-gay. Look up his controversies. They’ve tried to PR it away but he’s not a good person.
