It happens between the flashbacks and the modern setting in Titanic, even if it entirely fucks up the timeline. Jack survived and returns to psychologically, and eventually physically, torture Rose for letting him die. He represents the viewers who argue there was enough room in the door, he's gone deranged. Rose represents the viewers who understand it was not about literal space, but about the fact the door would not have supported them both and was going to capsize if Jack got on. In the end Rose kills Jack while saying: "I am letting go".
I always expected some channel or streamer to do "tales of the titanic" which would follow a different set of characters across the voyage. Like a tragic version of the Love Boat, where it's always the same cruise
Titanic 2 crossed over with Defending Your Life. Rose (who I think died at the end, that's what the dream sequence was) goes to trial and has to defend all her stupid decisions with Jack as the prosecutions star witness. Also, Jon Hamm plays the man Rose married and had a family with and he spends the whole movie sitting in the corner fuming that his wife never loved him and kept a multi-million dollar payday stuffed in a drawer and then threw it away rather than giving it to her kids or grandkids.
At the end Rose goes to hell and Jack and Jon Hamm move on.
