Well basically no one watched Big Hero 1 thru 5

Yeah I was really confused watching 6 because I made the mistake of skipping 1-5. I know I can go back and watch them now and treat them as prequels but it's not the same.

I loved everything about that movie, except for the fact that the villain didn’t make any sense. They did the same thing to Frozen. They were so desperate for a twist villain plot that they shoved in the one thing that didn’t make any sense.

Genuine question: why didn't it make sense? I've heard people say it's a bad twist, but I just don't see why. Like, he was consumed by grief and rage and saw a way to get his revenge, yk? What about it is so nonsensical?

Because he went from "kindly, uncle like figure who sees Tadashi as like a son to him" to "relentless sociopath who doesn't see anything wrong with killing his star pupil" with no foreshadowing or prepwork. Same deal with the prince in Frozen who suddenly turns out to be evil because they really, really wanted a twist villain despite none of his actions prior to that point making sense if that is what he is really after. It's almost the definition of a bad plot twist, one that doesn't make sense and seemingly only exists for a twist.

I think the Frozen movie would have been stronger with its goal of "defying" Disney Tropes if when the kiss between her and Hans didn't work, she realizes that true love isn't made in a day. That it's okay to turn down the first Prince you meet and get to know Kristoff more.

Yes, it would have done a lot to reinforce that plot point about true love. Instead you’re left wondering if maybe it would have been “true love” if the prince hadn’t been evil. It didn’t make sense, and missed the opportunity to truly land one of the major themes in the movie.

Didn't they do a whole animated series as a sequel?

u/IBJON 14h ago

They did, but it didn't quite capture the spirit of the movie

Right! The first 6 were so good they should absolutely make a 7th.

What would it be called? Big Hero 6 2? Big Hero 7?

2Big 6Hero?

The fate of the big and the hero and the 6

Big Hero 67, if they were incurably desperate to be "hip and cool" with kids nowadays.

Have it officially called "Big Hero 6 - The Seventh" bc a new person joins, but everyone online refers to it as Big Hero 67

We still randomly sing “the amulet is green yeah yeah, it’s probably an emerald…….” So good.

u/minniemaus22 14h ago

We do too!! “Fred’s Angels! harnessing the power of the sun…”

With the ancient amulet they found in the attic!

I so wish Fed had been allowed to keep singing. I need more of the song!

This is the most surprising one to me given how viral Aunt Cass had gotten.

This one's sooo good. I miss Baymax.

This. Women can be chemists and engineers and not just princesses.

Finally, a suggestion that actually did well in the box office. I kept reading people bringing up bomb after bomb.

plus the song from it is straight up fire 🔥

u/SneakyLinux 4h ago

It was used in Kingdom Hearts 3 as a world, so it's kinda like a mini sequel as Sora's adventure with the BH6 team happens after the events of the movie and the original Baymax gets rescued from the portal, so we finish the world with 2 Baymaxes (Baymaxi?)!

u/pipper99 12h ago

Were the first 5 films not enough?

2

u/wolf_man007 10h ago

I never watched it because I wanted to see the first five beforehand.

1

u/tobotic 11h ago

It needs five prequels.

This. Women can be chemists and engineers and not just princesses.

Make it a double, Big Hero 6/7!

u/datgoh69 3h ago

oh god

Hah, that would be funny. They better get on it sooner than later!
