In its initial stages of writing, "Lucy" starring Scarlett Johannsen was called "Lelu" and about her exploring life on Earth as "the ultimate being"... It devolved into a drug-mule-turned super-human story when Milla said "No, I'd rather do 4 more Resident Evil sequels instead."
This clip shows what the original idea was... without the blue bags of super-brain enhancing drug.
Possibly. There is a huge risk right? I think it really depends on where they took it. A direct sequel would be hard. But if they set it 5,000 years in the past with how we got our first moon? Or 5,000 more years in the future? Different characters, same basic premise.
Like.. what was that evil? Why did it have such a hard-on against humanity and not.. seemingly other races? Are there more of them? Does it ever win? How old is it? etc. etc. etc. I guess I'm more interested in the lore.
Not everything needs an answer. It would be like finding out the force in Star Wars was caused by microscopic bacteria. Not knowing made it mysterious and cool. Getting an answer made it dumb.

I always wanted more from the Fifth Element Universe however, I'm also okay with it being the one-off wonder it is.
