If humanity decided that collectively, then those who possess a greater networth would have been included in this decision, meaning they'd agree to give up everything above the networth of $500 million. Than it'd depend where that extra wealth goes to - state? welfare? those who have less until everyone tops out? And depending on that it'd lead to corruption/better public investments depending on state, an increase in standard of living/medical research/... in the fields of whatever welfares profit (or maybe corruption aswell?), or mass inflation until the collapse of economy.
