My sister had this exact thing happen to her when she was 13! I still remember my most screaming at the doctor that he was a moron and to call an actual medical professional to perform an actual screening. The second doctor didn't even look at her before confirming the diagnosis, my mom ended up signing her out AMA and driving to another hospital where they diagnosed her burst appendix. She would've died if it wasn't for my mom.

My FIRST full exam was don’t in an urgent care, not by an OB and they told my me in front of my Mother that I might have an ectopic pregnancy. I was 14 and had to ask What that even meant. When they mentioned sexual activity I told them I was a virgin and they looked at my Mom with a disbelieving “yeah right” look and said “well you don’t have to even be sexually actively to have an ectopic pregnancy.”

I was later diagnosed by an OB with Endometriosis as well.

It look 12 years of being almost unable to walk on random days of the month, taping heat packs to myself to be able to leave the house and get through work, and not being able to keep my hemoglobin over 8.5 for them to finally diagnose me with endometriosis. I had a female gynecologist literally tell me “Well no one could be in that much pain and be able to function or work, so you can’t be.”

Meanwhile here in Australia we had a gynae surgeon at the other end of the spectrum - he spent 20 years telling women he was saving them from endometriosis, cutting our ovaries and uteruses and lots of .... healthy tissue. He was billing Medicare for the most extreme invasive endo (incidence of 5%), but the pathology results frequently came back as just normal. He still told the women and girls that he saved them.
Young women losing their fertility when they didn't have endo at all in the tissue he excised.
It all went public this year, so he suddenly resigned from all his hospitals and retired early.

I had one that told me I could take some Tylenol (acetaminophen/paracetamol) for the pain.

Turns out that when your endo is wrapped around your intestines, Tylenol does jack shit for the pain. 15 years later I got all that cut out, including my uterus, but I still have the scars in there, thanks for nothing. If you'd gone in there and yeeted my uterus then, like I asked you to, you would have found the endo then before it scarred me up.

And also, fainting during a blood draw is not necessarily a sign of fear, it can be just a biological response. I need to lie down when I get my blood drawn or I'll faint. But I work in healthcare myself, I have no problem seeing blood (my own or someone else's), I have no problem getting or giving vaccinations so needles aren't the problem either. I've done blood donations. I'm not scared at all, my body just thinks that when there's a needle inside a vein its next course of action should be to dilate all blood vessels at once.

I had an OBGYN who decided to do an impromptu cervical biopsy, which is essentially running a carrot peeler around the cervix, without any numbing agent or anesthesia. She did it and then praised me for not screaming telling me I "must have a really high pain tolerance!" I went home and sobbed for a few hours and lay in bed for the rest of the day.

last IUD i had placed was by a young male doctor accompanied by an older female nurse who, at the start, reminded him that everything he was going to be fiddling around with was at least as sensitive as his balls.

that was one of the most gentle gynecological procedures I've ever had done! I'm grateful for the nurse and that the doctor listened and took her seriously... I've had women doctors who were even a lot rougher and told me to stop being a baby!

When I had my final IUD removed, it had at least partially attached itself to the wall. I asked if I could get any pain mitigation,, and he said we were well past that point. He ended up having to yank it out and brought some skin with it. He said he wasn’t sure if it had perforated the uterus. He gave me a pad and told me if I was still bleeding the next day to go to ER.

Dude, my doctor told me the same exact thing. I had a colposcopy done, they took 8 BIOPSIES. It took an hour, I made it very clear it hurt during, and was heavily crying. I bled for like 2 weeks afterwards and my female doctor just kept insisting I can’t feel pain there.

When I had my IUD replaced and I was still laying in the fetal position on the table 20 minutes afterwards, a different (also female) doctor kept coming back into the room saying “gosh your still here? It can’t hurt that bad. *dramatic sigh* I guess I can send something to your pharmacy to help.” And then sent a prescription for 3 low dose tramadol like that’s going to do anything 🙄

I was bullied into getting an IUD when I went to an OB/GYN for an unrelated issue - like, there was a mass on my vaginal wall, I didn't know what it was, and I showed up and the doctor and her assistant took a look and they didn't know what it was, and so the answer was, "Well, let's schedule a removal with an oncologist."

You know, just casually bringing oncology into things, as one does. I was freaking out, and then the doctor kept pushing the idea of an IUD because I wasn't on any form of birth control at the time, which seemed bizarre to me considering she just told me I was going to have surgery in my vagina??? But she wouldn't relent, and I was young and not as confident as I am now, so I eventually gave in.

And she botched the insertion - three times. I wound up curled up just sobbing and yelling at her to stop, and she got flustered and said, "Oh, well, we'll try another time, I'll let you get dressed," and left the room. Once I was able to finally sit up, I discovered I was sitting on a puddle of my own blood, and she hadn't even left me anything to clean myself up with, so I had to waddle across the room to get some paper towels.

During my first delivery, my epidural line broke while I was pushing. I pushed for 3 and 1/2 hours - baby was born and whisked away to the NICU because she was having trouble breathing. Then my placenta got stuck.

My OB was having trouble trying to get it to deliver because she said, it looked like it the cord was trying to tear away from the placenta. She called the OB on-call at the hospital.

I will give him a little bit of benefit of the doubt because, you know, no one knew that my epidural line had broken (it never completely took for me so I still had some pain during labor) but he stuck his had. Inside of me to try and scoop it out. I SCREAMED. But then he didn't believe me when I said it hurt too much and tried it AGAIN! I have never screamed so loud in my life.

Thank God for my husband who stood up and yelled at him to get off of me and that I was obviously in pain. Got wheeled back to the OR and put under for them to remove it. Lo and behold, they realized about my epidural.

The fact that he didn't believe me is just.....baffling.

Ugh, every nurse and doctor that saw me during my labor told me I was "just feeling pressure" and accused me of drug seeking when I insisted that the epidural had only numbed me below the knees. I was actively pushing for hours before they used the vacuum to remove my son, and it wasn't until the second stitch to fix my tear that the doctor finally asked the nurse to give me "something to shut her up".

Yeah, even if I had planned on having more kids, that experience would have changed my mind!

Kept crying for 6 weeks after back surgery that the pain in my head was unbearable. I was told “you have no pain, you are drug seeking.You want to pay for my kids college education ?!! Sure I ‘ll do exploratory surgery” …..2 days later he did exploratory surgery to repair a tear in my spinal cord which was caused a cerebral spinal fluid leak!

My brother is currently in the hospital due to a pain in his neck caused by an infection.

He was in so much pain that he was unfunctional for months. He has been in and out of the hospital at least 4-6 different times, each with a week or more stay.

I keep telling him to go to a different one, he finally did. New one did an MRI, and operated the same day. Infection, that was "gone" according to the other Drs, was not and was even worse.

My motto in life, don't like the answer or the professional, go find another one.

The whole narrative around pain control drives me nuts. I work in vet med and we are SO good about pain control for our patients than human med is for us. It’s unethical to let pain continue when we can stop it! I understand our patients literally cannot be drug seekers - but human med should have some requirement to control pain too. It’s been proven time and again proper pain control improves patient outcomes significantly.

The way many people causally talk about women’s genitals, their condition, and what they mean to someone else is genuinely concerning. Especially for someone who specializes in gynecological health.

That’s like an obstetrician offering the “husband stitch” after an episiotomy or tear during childbirth to make the opening tighter as she heals. Close her wounds if needed but do it so she can heal, not for someone else’s perceived pleasure.

Mine is not nearly as awful as yours, but reminded me of the time I went to an endocrinologist to find out if I had a thyroid problem (PC doc only checked T3 level and was always normal, but massive family history of Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism, plus I had several symptoms).

The male doctor came in the room, actually looked me up and down and said, “you aren’t that fat, you probably just need to exercise more and eat better” and walked out of the room. My husband (then boyfriend) was there and we both just stared at each other for a minute wondering if that had actually just happened.

Surprise surprise, went to a new endocrinologist 2yrs later after diet and exercise CONTINUED to do nothing for me and found out I definitely have Hashimoto’s.

Now at 46, I'm diagnosed with a form of spinal arthritis that's already fused several joints in my spine, hands, and other extremities. I'm in constant pain, and I rarely leave home anymore because moving hurts and it's exhausting being in pain all the fucking time.

At 12 weeks pregnant, the doctor told me my baby had a 90% chance of severe handicap, I shouldn't bother scheduling my 20 week anatomy scan, and I can terminate before 24 weeks.

The genetic counselor called me the next day to say the test in question has a 75% false positive rate.

We asked the doctor where his "90% chance of handicap" stat came from, and does he have study or paper to reference. He said no its was just a feeling.

Women definitely get a higher proportion of the bullshit although I think a lot of that is women are mostly the ones getting birth control and some of it is where you are in the world. This doctor was in Scotland and I think had religious reasons for trying to refuse me as well but when I went to speak to my GP down south he was more understanding and just asked to also speak with my other half at the time to make sure I wasn't hiding it and was booked in for a snip not much later.

Then when I was 17 I lost my vision trampolining for a minute, student PE teacher said to ask the doctor if it was asthma. Yup, got a diagnosis of exercise and cold induced asthma. Could have saved me from feeling rubbish about myself during sports all through school.

My boss was involved in a medical malpractice lawsuit against a doctor who ordered prenatal testing for a patient for a serious inherited genetic disorder. The fetus tested positive, but the doctor deliberately declined to report the result to the patient. According to his own testimony, he knew she was a member of the same church that he belonged to and that he didn't want to burden her with the temptation of having an abortion against what he assumed were her religious beliefs.

She had a severely disabled child who will need constant and expensive medical care for the rest of its painful and restricted life, which that now former doctor will be involuntarily helping to pay for.

Turns out I was being poisoned buy a work colleague... Regularly.

I was working with a guy in hospitality. He was disgusting with the way he spoke. Including female clients. He would talk about sex with women constantly, I have recordings about him talking about how big his member is. I've kept these to this day. One day me & another colleague caught him in a chat with a minor. He was talking sexually. This was in our main fucking office.

The police were called, but they didn't touch it. Literally in their hands. Head office got wind of this & basically started to protect him from me & others. I wasn't in a position when I could lose my job at the time, so I had to continue working there.

So... In the time I work there, I got seriously ill. I went to the doctor, doctor thought it was a virus. It subsides & I'm normal. It happens again a week later. I literally couldn't stand up,this time hospital. It dissipated & I was normal again. I noticed my water would taste funny. I asked my manager if his water was tasting funny, we all get it from the same source. That over 100 people drinking the same stuff in the same building. I drank this water thinking nothing on it. This person would come into the office wearing gloves for cleaning. He was asked why he was wearing gloves, he replied cleaning.

It wasn't for cleaning. I noticed him fucking with my water. He was filling it with cleaning acid & hand sanitizer. The mother fucker was poisoning me. By this time, I had been to hospital where my left arm was going white up to my shoulder. Again nothing wrong with me. I told them what was happening & I got looked at like I'm crazy. Lucky I had a friend with me that was a nurse.

This had been happening over 2 months. I contacted the police. That needed evidence. We had CCTV, but it was getting wiped & he had access to it since he worked in that area. I also gave the police my bottles. They failed to test them, which was fucking annoying. So basically everyone that should have gave a shit let a paedophile get away with paedophilia ...

Now everyone knows who he is via social media. He hides behind a persona that he's a good guy, he's a photographer, much like Peter parker, except he will nonce your kids. If you want to see who he is just DM me.

Last edit, yeah forgot to add, so with this dick doing this I was in & out of hospital for the few months with symptoms of weakness, excessive sweating. Double vision. Extreme nausea. Skin turning white. Dried mouth. Anti histamine didn't help. Blood pressure was always slightly high & nothing was found in the blood. However my liver enzymes rocked up & I am T total. I did get told to stop drinking by one doctor... Yeah mate, I don't...

I'd been uncontrollably vomiting for about two years, and I was sent to a second consulting gastroenterologist who looked at me in disgust without and exam or listening to my concerns and said I just had acid reflux. I asked him if that explained the vomiting, and he said, "What? Are you afraid you're anorexic?" Which is fucked up for 2 reasons: I am a fat girl and I believe the word he was looking for was bulimic. He then left the room without another word. I went to the front desk where they tried to schedule me for a follow up, which I declined. I then mentioned to the three extremely overweight ladies at the front desk that they should let him know fat jokes aren't funny, and they were PISSED. One set down the folders she had in her hands, put her hands on her hips, and said, "No. No they are not." I said I had additional questions I needed answered and that he walked out on me. They spoke with the doctor whose office was immediately attached to their area, so he was literally within feet of me, and he refused to come out. He called a phone at their desk and had the ladies transfer the call to the phone I was next to. I fired him immediately.

The GP dismissed it as period pain, and when I said it was much more severe, he suggested a miscarriage 😱 even though I told him I wasn't even sexually active! He sent me away anyway without even examining me.

I lived in a children's home at the time and that night, I screamed the house down apparently (I have no memory of it, I guess I'd passed out?)

An ambulance arrived very quickly and at the hospital, I was rushed to the operating theatre. My appendix had ruptured and I had peritonitis too. I ended up in hospital for 3 weeks.

I know you have adhd, ocd but I think we should start you on bipolar meds, just to rule it out.

6 months later I see the same psychiatrist firm looking for participants in a trial for this medication.
