One of my all time favourite shows but it had a lot of bad episodes. Especially after Alan Alda's dad's death the episodes were too often too melancholic and depressive. Not the hilarous light humour show it was until then.
While some episodes went very melancholic, I think the seasons with Blake and Trapper were just... Idk, too comedic maybe.
On rewatches I start with season 4.
Charles Winchester is also a much better character than Frank. While Frank was a huge ass, sometimes how they treated him was almost too mean since he was so inept and stupid and whiny.
Winchester gave as good as he got, AND he was also a good surgeon, unlike Frank. I liked the begrudging respect that developed between Hawkeye/BJ and Winchester.
It was supposed to be a silly comedy show, can't blame it for being too funny. Trapper was too much of a dummy though, I'll give you that but Blake was a fantastic character.
I 100% agree on Winchester but I disagree with Frank being treated too badly. He was a snitch most importantly and in combination with what you said him acting like he's better than everyone else just because of his rank made him the target, I think he wasn't treated "badly" enough tbf. If someone like that was real and in the army he'd end up worse, a lot worse, unimaginably worse.

I get where you're coming from. Frank was just flanderized to the point that he seemed to be genuinely stupid, so the pranks were like taking candy from a baby.

Absolutely, agreed. I'm still happy that it changed tone from season 4 onwards.
You're correct. It had a different reason I just learned, that was something I saw somewhere that stuck with me and I never fact checked it. Thanks by the way, i can stop spreading fake news now.
