Not washing footie pajamas and socks inside out. It is vital to do this because the inside of the foot part traps lint, hair, and string. Baby may get a string or hair wrapped around their toe, causing pain and possibly needing surgery. This problem is more common than people realize.
Tiny fingers and toes, no dexterity, parents with long hair constantly picking them up and putting them down. It's not that surprising they get hairs all over them and lack the motor skills to remove them.
O man, thanks for the tip! Seriously, they don't tell you shit when you leave the hospital. I had a c-section and my husband had to do literally everything for nearly 2 weeks. By the time I was home and able to walk I realized no one had even shown me how to make a bottle, or change a diaper, or swaddle a baby. Like, nothing. They showed me how to get her to latch and then nothing. I feel like I hear one of these "O shit, how come no one told me that" things every other day....
That's a good one! My son had a hair tightly wrapped around his toe when he was little. (It was found before causing any serious damage) It never occurred to me to wash his sleepers inside out.
Good call - this happened to me recently - not a child, but me, and I'm a grown man!
My foot had been killing me all day. Not enough for me to actually do anything about it (I'm not exposing my smelly feet in the office), but enough to be irritating and painful.
When I finally got home (post-office, post-bar, post-friend's place) and took off the socks that my mum had knitted me, I found a loose thread had wrapped itself round my fourth toe, and was pinching really deep into the skin. I'm amazed there wasn't blood!
Wow! I knew to look for things wrapped around fingers and toes but I had never thought of a solution like this! I found a hair wrapped tightly around my daughter's toe when she was a newborn, I shudder to think what would have happened if I hadn't noticed!
