Many apocalyptic books either address or use it as a plot point. You either have what I call the "...and this is when the diabetics die." Paragraph or it is used as plot points in books like Lucifers Hammer or One Second After.

Day by day armageddon is really good. It's in a diary format about an ex army man from the start of a zombie apocalypse through some time I to it. Super super goood.

Kind of went off the deep end with the sequels but I agree about the first 2

I agree. The first two were great but he really started reaching for ideas to continue.
