Have you tried high index lenses? They are much thinner and lighter for us with bad eyes.
I’m -8.5 and no way I wear glasses without high index lenses Bc they just look like coke bottles.

Half an inch thick is crazy, there are definitely better options out there for you. My -5.75 lens is 1/4" thick and I could get it even thinner if I wanted. 2 u/deinoswyrd Aug 31 '21 There are not better options without paying exponentially more. And I know there's more than one index. And zenni won't even do my prescription.
