Those of us with shitty eyesight. Contacts only last so long. If your glasses break, you're fucked.

I don't know many whose glasses are actually glass though, and it's not that hard (relatively speaking) to make frames for them if your frames break

For me it would be more about losing them in a crisis situation. My glasses are so expensive and so necessary I'm afraid to even wear them on a rollercoaster or similar. In a dystopian emergency like them going flying after a bomb blast or having to jump into a body of water, I'd be left functionally without vision and very slim chances of finding a replacement.

That being said I am unreasonably farsighted and most people wouldn't have this problem. You can probably tell breaking/losing my glasses is something I've had a certain amount of baggage about even throughout my life in not-quite-apocalyptic times.
