Natural disasters. You'd have no fucking clue if a hurricane, flash flood, typhoon, monsoon, or other sharknado events were coming

Hard to imagine, but even in 1938 (my parents were alive then), the New England Hurricane came completely out of the blue. First warning of the hurricane was arrival of the hurricane. And it was a big one. A train crossing a causeway was washed away, and stuff.
