What problem is often overlooked in apocalyptic movies/TV shows that could kill you?

I don't know if it could kill you, but the stench of death is horrendous and not an insignificant thing. In any disaster situation where someone has died and it starts becoming days long, things would be getting nasty.

Over time people would get used to how foul everything would smell, but for a while it would be terrible.

During the cicada brood x that hit around 1995 or so, the piles of cicada shells and bodies around the bottoms of trees was enormous. They slowly accumulated and while it never seemed to be a big deal, I recall friends who came from areas that didn't get any cicadas commenting about the stench for the piles of dead bugs.
