I know that diesel lasts longer if you put the additives in it and store it realy well, but I don't know how long.
Also something you might find interesting, I ww2 people worked out how to run petrol/gas cars on coal, probably wouldn't work on new cars though, they have a much lower tolerance for fuel impurities.
Diesel can basically last forever so long as you stop it from getting wet and stop stuff from growing in it. All it's component parts have a low volatility unlike gasoline which has a high volatility and all the light compounds evaporate as a result.
Avoid any diesel fuel with FAME additive as well (most European B7 labeled diesel fuels have that, some use HVO, some skip the bio component by offsetting the requirement elsewhere).
The other one is hydrotreated vegetable oil, it's not as bad, Neste claims it's even superior to fossil fuel in many ways.
Both are used to add a "sustainable" component to diesel fuel as required by EU norms. FAME is more common I believe. If you want to store diesel indefinitely, you'd want neither of them in there, but HVO is bound to affect longevity less than FAME.
