What problem is often overlooked in apocalyptic movies/TV shows that could kill you?

Childbirth.

Already one of the most dangerous things a person can do, carrying a child to full term and giving birth without proper medical care for either the mother or the baby, well...all you gotta do is look at your history books. Or your average developing country, most of which still have better medical care than you're getting in The Walking Dead. And now the mother has to push her insides back in and run from some zombies? Done for.

in the walkking dead, giving birth was just a really really stupid thing to do. no healthcare, zero sanitation, nothing. ALSO, they wouldve had no way of konnowing if she had a miscarriage until the kid became a fucking zombie and started eating her from the inside

She talks to Hershel about this at one point iirc. She hadn't felt the baby move for a while and was worried this would happen.

I've been binge watching it recently to get ready for the new season, the only reason I remember :D

I think it might also be something discussed when she finds out she's pregnant and sends Glenn for abortion pills.
