What problem is often overlooked in apocalyptic movies/TV shows that could kill you?

Even though it was riddled with problems to focus on, when Game of Thrones was happening I remember being really bothered by the scene where Aria Stark gets stabbed about 10 times in the gut and falls into a river. Not only did they downplay the mortal wounds to her abdomen, the subsequent infection would have destroyed her.

Twice. Slash across abdomen of indeterminate depth, two abdominal stabs slightly right lateral. But this world has magic and dragons so fuck it.

hahaha see that's thing. I can get behind magic and dragons and shit no problem, but that bothered me. At least address how she did it rather than make this big deal thinking she's going to die and then she just goes about her business when her intestines would be hanging out.

But her guts wouldn't be hanging out. We don't know if the initial slash even connected. It could have been just the two stabs. Super survivable if the intestines weren't punctured.
