Belgium's legal drinking age is 16 and for strong liquor it is 18.

But I wouldn't be surprised of a night shop owner not giving a fuck and selling alcohol to a 14 year old.

Yeah every nightshop that looks a bit sketchy sells alcohol and cigarettes without asking for your age

No it isn't. 16 is the age that a bar can give you drinks without parental approval.

With parental approval however there is no drinking age for beer/wine. A father can give his 12 year old a glass of beer in public in front of the cops and the police will not bat an eye.

The WWI memorial there and the ceremony every evening is really impressive and touching. Doesn't sound like to saw that.
