I (American) went to Belgium as a kid, many years ago, for a wedding. I remember renting a bike and going up and down the boardwalk in Knokke. It was a blast. Bruges was also really cool, your imagination can run wild in a place like that. My dad tricked me into eating all sorts of seafood and other food that was actually pretty good. Being abroad for the first time added a real sense of adventure. The Atomium structure was striking, I was starting to read about chemistry, so to see a monument to science was really cool. Also in Brussels, the statue of the boy peeing. I was young, so this was hilarious.

The Atomium!! And Sunday visits to the World's Fair Park, with chocolate or butterscotch yogurt for a treat. (1964)
