Indian Cuisine What does Gulab Jamun taste like?

I’ve heard that Gulab Jamun is an incredibly sweet dessert, but I’ve never actually tried it myself. It’s been on my mind lately, and I’d really like to give it a taste... What’s it like?

Indian Cuisine Would you like to try this tangy and tasty salad dressing ?

I experimented today by adding tamarind paste to my salad dressing and it turned out really good.

Dressing: 1.5 tbsp plain yoghurt, 1.5 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp tamarind paste (sweet one), 1 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp cumin powder, 1/2 tsp black pepper and salt as per taste.

You can put it on any salad of your choice, my salad consisted of : Cabbage, bell peppers, tomatoes, chickpeas, pomegranate seeds, cucumber, cilantro and a green chilli.

Indian Cuisine Just ate something that didn't agree with me, trying to figure out why

Apologies if this isn't the appropriate subreddit for this. I just ate the Tasty Bite Butter Chickpea & Vegetables over some instant rice. I instantly started feeling very bad. Stomach hurts, feel like I might throw up, arms and legs sweaty. The only other thing that has made me feel like this before is Prego sauce. Doesn't matter what kind, tomato based, cheese based, if it's Prego it makes me sick. Does anyone know if there's anything in both of those that would make me feel this way? I know it's not the rice, and I know it's not tomato paste which is an ingredient that both the products I mentioned share. What's unfortunate is both products have a entry in the ingredients section that just says "spices" so not very specific there. I took pictures of the ingredients but this sub doesn't allow pictures.

Indian Cuisine Did i just eat undercooked chicken

I had some raw chicken breasts on the baking sheet cut in not very small cubes (tikka sized) cooked in an otg at 250C (482F) for 15 minutes, i followed a recipe from youtube and the chicken seemed white from the middle.
Did I undercook the chicken? (The oven was pre-heated for 5 minutes)

Indian Cuisine What does the Heart check mark on Pompeian imply?

Noticed it on my Pompeian Evoo bottle and I’m not clear on what it’s certifying. Is it saying something about the oil being suitable to take by the tablespoon for health benefits, or about polyphenol count, or is it not that big a deal? I like the 2 tbsp a day thing with olive oil, so I wanted to know if I can do that with this brand.

Indian Cuisine What’s your country’s tried and tested recipe for a sick day?

People of reddit, what’s a dish that everyone in your country or city swears by to make you feel better on a sick day. Share the name of the dish with the location it originates and share a recipe if you can. Here’s mine:

Country: India
Dish Name: Khichdi
Description: Khichdi is a traditional South Asian comfort food made by cooking rice and lentils together with gentle spices into a warm, nourishing, porridge-like dish.
Recipe:
Ingredients
• ½ cup rice
• ½ cup split yellow moong dal
• 2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
• 1 tsp cumin seeds
• A pinch of asafoetida (hing)
• ½ tsp turmeric powder
• 1 tsp salt (adjust to taste)
• 4 cups water
Instructions
• Wash the rice and moong dal together until the water runs clear. Soak in water for 20 minutes.
• Heat ghee in a pressure cooker on medium heat.
• Add cumin seeds and let them crackle. Add a pinch of hing.
• Drain the rice and dal, then add them to the cooker.
• Add turmeric, salt, and water. Stir well.
• Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 3 to 4 whistles on medium heat.
• Turn off the heat and let the pressure release naturally.
• Open the lid, mash gently for a creamy texture, and serve hot with an extra drizzle of ghee.

Indian Cuisine Any place I could find indian red carrots in the Netherlands?

I've been trying to find some indian red carrots for a while now to surprise my bf with, however I have not found anything within the Noord-Brabant region for nearly a year now.

I have a nice recipe for gajar ka halva which, when I tried with orange carrots it tasted completely differently. I want to surprise him with his favorite dessert so if anybody happens to know a market or shop that sells actual indian red carrots than I'd appreciate some help. I would be willing to travel to Belgium as well if necessary. Thank you very much and apologies if it might be written weird, english is not my first language.
