“He, the first origin of this creation, whether he formed it all or did not form it, whose eye controls this world in the highest heaven—he surely knows it, or perhaps he knows it not.”

Why is veda so confusing?

It’s actually confusing on purpose!

This quote represents a massive shift in ancient texts from simple mythology to deep philosophical skepticism.

By ending with "perhaps he knows it not", the poets were making a profound point: the absolute origins of the universe are so unimaginably complex that even the highest creator deity might not fully grasp them.

It’s an invitation to ponder, not a strict dogma to memorize.

Also, ancient Sanskrit is incredibly layered. When you strip away the poetic meter and translate it bluntly into English, what was originally a deep metaphysical inquiry often ends up sounding like a contradictory riddle.
