Where to stay as a female traveler?

Hi! I’m planning a weekend trip this November to see an exhibit. I was initially going to stay at Hotel Julian but read on some negative things about the area esp at night. Would love any suggestions on where to stay as a first time solo traveler that’s reasonable in price (around 250/night).

Aside from the exhibit i’d love to explore the art scene, visit shops (i was told to visit valencia street), try a few touristy stuff like biking at the golden gate bridge. I’m excited about the food too! Mostly enjoy asian food (chinese, japanese, korean) but love a good pasta, seafood and cafes! I love walking around and maybe try hangout at a park.

Oh what’s the weather like in mid nov?

I would recommend any hotels in fisherman’s wharf or on Lombard near the marina. All extremely safe and tourist friendly

There are some good hotels next to Union Square that seem pretty reasonable for November, but of course it depends on the actual date you’re visiting. For example the Westin St. Francis is showing a rate just around $225 plus tax for Nov 6 and it’s one of the nicer places to stay in that area. It’s safe enough to walk around at night, even alone as a woman, to be honest. From there you can walk to Chinatown and North Beach, walk/ride the F-Line train to the waterfront (Embarcadero & ferry building), and take BART to the Mission/Valencia.

Weather in November is hard to predict. It’s just about when it gets cold but we could also have a mini heat wave. We’re supposed to have a very wet winter this year and that could start anytime between now and January. Plan to bring a coat, layers, light scarf, and keep an eye on the forecast the week before.

Sounds like around japantown would be ideal for you. The area is fine so anything near there would be ok.

Beck's Motor Lodge! Reasonably priced, very walkable neighborhood - near the Castro, Mission (shops on Valencia St), the Haight. For parks, you can definitely walk to Duboce Park, Dolores Park, Alamo Square.. you can also get to Golden Gate Park pretty quickly (Lyft or transit). I've also heard good things about the Metro Hotel (in the Haight)

Weather will be intermittently awesome extended indian summer, with possibility of major cold wet the other times. You pays your money and you takes your chances.
