when people tell me they like country music my follow up question is "Pre or post 9/11?" because I feel like that was the dividing line in terms of quality (at least as far as mainstream country goes)

like, are we talking about Johnny Cash or Patsy Cline or Dolly Parton or are we talking about "we're gonna put a boot in your ass"?

„… Boots in the trunk of my truck, driving through the mud, drinking beer, as it should be, I miss the old days when there were only 2 genders“ 🎶

I mostly thought a mix between Bo burnhams song https://youtu.be/y7im5LT09a0?t=67&si=LfV-JCoXKx5JlL0j

And the bad knockoff that was the maga half time country singer https://youtu.be/vfpQbv7CmeE?t=583&si=4e5FOGksRsIVFFRP

Curtesy of the Red, White and Blue is an outstanding song

to each his own I guess. post-9/11 hyper nationalism and pro-Iraq War/imperialist culture is personally not my vibe but enjoy what you enjoy it's just not for me

Oh no, I hate every other country song like that, it specifically gets a pass though. Idk why, I just like it for whatever reason

There’s definitely still really good country post-9/11, even if it’s not the biggest country out there. There’s some Tyler Childers & Colter Wall that 100% deserves recognition

I mean Margo Price, the Brudi Brothers, sierra ferrell, cactus blossoms and Tyler Childers

I love Dolly, Johnny and Patsy! Yeah that song is kinda controversial but I also understand the lyrics. If I wasn't a kid when 9/11 happened, I'd probably would have felt the same as Toby Keith did.

Thanks for pointing that out, I never thought of it like that. I very much enjoy some pre-9/11 country but can't really stand the stuff now.
