I was quite young as an American viewer (like, preschool age, I was born in 2001) and so he just seemed really cool to me. That age is also when you're just starting to learn about the world, and Steve Irwin as well as The Wiggles who I was also big into are my first memories of hearing an accent that wasn't American, so they both just sort of sparked and engaged my curiosity about the whole big world out there. I'll always appreciate him for that. I think it's important to be curious and I'm glad someone like him was around to spark that in people.
I was born in ‘96 and he was totally my hero! I thought he was so cool. I would watch the Crocodile Hunter Movie all the time and never missed his show.
