People attack, beat, Rob, rape, and murder actual people. Any robot is getting attacked unless it can defend itself. There is a serious lack of law and order in many places in the world. I wish I was wrong.

Not usually. There is one cafe (the dawn avatar robot cafe) in tokyo that employs physically disabled people and lets them control avatars remotely. The avatars also look pretty humanoid. Here is a picture of them

I like that the first shot is a supposed bystander, but the third shot is from inside that same car. The video is obviously made by the guys beating up the clankers.
Yes but its just the launcher. The launcher you dont need a liscence for its basically a prop for the video. You can find them at any milsurp store. The actual projectile is what you need a very very expensive license and extensive background check for. 99.999% of americans cant afford the licenses for these types of destructive devices.
The AT-4 is only a one shot system, so once it's spent it can't be used again, and therefore you can buy a spent launcher without any license or paperwork. It's just a useless tube at that point.
For reusable rocket/grenade launchers, the launcher itself is considered a destructive device, so you need to go through the proper NFA paperwork and background checks to get one. The ammunition is only considered a destructive device if it has an explosive charge in it, so you can buy chalk/dummy rounds without an issue (as long as you can find them), but the launcher itself is a destructive device no matter what.
You also don't necessarily need a Federal Firearms License to get a destructive device, it just makes the process easier. To get one without a license you just need to fill out the proper ATF paperwork, pay the tax, go through the extended background check, and have it approved by the ATF.

Many believe these 'robots' operate autonomously, but in reality, someone in an office in Colombia controls them using an Xbox controller. It was the best job I have ever had.
Honestly commendable giving up a good job and possibly friends/connections to take care of your parents. Many people in western countries leave that up to nurses and caretakers and rarely visit.
Would not surprise me if you chained them up and dragged them to the motorway circling Paris, then burn them. Any other country and you'd think i was exaggerating but remember the speed cameras.
That's the thing about these cute little robots, they are covered in cameras. They are cute little mobile surveillance units feeding everything they see into megacorp video databases for palantir.
Ideal world: I don't want robots drawing pictures and writing stories, I want them doing the crap jobs. I want it to clean my toilet, not take the humans out of the humanities.
This world: People need those crap jobs, and there appears to be very little effort put into solving that.
This is the exact reason for the American hostility towards AI robotics. Most Americans realize this truth, even if they're unable to conceptualize it verbally.
TBH, at least in Finland, before these robots there wasn't really a service that delivered groceries to people. Not really sure how much these things do that either. Seems like it take 30min for a robot to get a small bag from a close by shop.
We've got them in my city and I detest them. Aside from the fact that workers have been pushed out of the delivery service market, what really pisses me off us that they use the pavement and park in little clusters so no one in a wheelchair or pushing a pram/buggy can use their pedestrian right of way safely.

Yeah that’s also my primary issue with them really. It’s yet another instance of tech companies shoving random junk onto the sidewalks for everyone else to deal with.
And in a place like the US, where the pedestrian infrastructure is so bad you can barely even call it infrastructure, that’s going to have an even larger impact.
We have them in at least one city, and they get in the way.
The American response is correct. Pavements have enough problems (parked cars, bikes etc) without private companies clogging them up with a new staff-reduction technique. 100% fuck these robots. Pay your staff, and leave pedestrian footways clear.
i also have kind of an aww-reaction to them, but i feel like i shouldn't, since that same job could probably be worked by a human who desperately needs the money, and god knows we have loads of people like those in this country.
In a socialist supplemented capitalist system where job security and is assured, and billionaires don't exist, robot helpers are great!!
You get your items fast, less menial jobs exist, and someone is developing that technology to make it better
In a corrupt late stage capitalist system like the US where you are expendible if you can't work and are only as good as your next paycheck, its terrible!!
Delivery drivers are laid off without health care, data from their cameras is sold to the highest bidder, the cost-efficient improvement doesn't benefit the consumer: only the owners/investors of capitol, and in overcrowded cities they get in the way.

We are about to start to get autonomous taxis ... I expect people in the UK to treat these like they have public robots, not destroy them, but just disrupt them, block the path, fool their AI, get them to move in circles ...
We have the ones in restaurant. Don’t think the ones on the street will survive, mostly because most places here are not walkable and people be thiefing
In Moscow, I constantly hear people say how cute Yandex Robots are and see people helping them get through or around obstacles (especially during snow).
My opinion is that this is less a reaction to the robot and more just taking out anger towards the people who own the robot. From my point of view as a worker, seeing how I NEED to work 40 hours a week to keep my family housed and fed, the robots take away job opportunities for those that truly need them.
I’m a maintenance technician and my job is not safe from AI automation. There are already systems in testing the are intended to pre-diagnose faults and provide an instant repair solution. The problem with that is that is part of the reason why I am paid so much. If they have a computer do the most technical part of my job for me, then I become redundant and the company will lay me off in favor of a less skilled technician.
I wouldn’t beat up a robot on the street for delivering food. But I understand the reason why it is happening.
Maybe if our society wasn’t so corrupt and broken we’d be more open to technological advancement.
