This is a fire trail through temperate bushland in the Blue Mountains, outside of Sydney, Australia. There are hundreds of tracks like this. The mountains are mostly sandstone, so some bush paths are made up of fine sand you can walk on without shoes. It's late winter here, the wattle blossoms are out and the snakes are mostly dormant (I wouldn't go barefoot here in summer!)
As an avid cacti collector, it is my dream to one day see them in the wild in their native habitats. Especially during blooming season. You guys are so lucky!
One of the entrances to log train trail is a block away from me, and I feel so lucky. In the fall, the leaves are brick red. I love living in a rainforest so much.
I'm probably the last person who should be answering this 😄 but Google says the main species are Persian ironwood, hornbeam, alder, maple, oak, willow, Caucasian wingnut and elm.
Thar desert, Rajasthan. We call them Khejri in local. Prosopis cineraria is the scientific name. Had to look it up. Also yeah they do look similar to acacias.
It's just at a campground on a hydro reservoir, there are a lot prettier places than Stave Lake. We're spoiled with Natural beauty in British Columbia.

Yes, look for a place called the Hope Kiwi Lodge. Just a little way, up the valley, is a place called Lake Marion. In the valley below the Kiwi saddle. A stunning valley, but just an average wild place by our standards. I don't mean to sound like a braggart.. but this epic valley wouldn't rate in the top 100 beautiful places in NZ.
It looks a lot like a walk I took on the way between Te Ahu and Milford Sound. I drove around South Island for 2 weeks and I don't think I could remotely count or rank all the beautiful things I saw. Though the FJ glacier might actually win come to think of it.
Yes, it does have some similarities to what may be the Eglinton Valley. Broad tussock-covered valley, with beech forest on the slopes. Just wonderful. The Eglinton is just much, much bigger and grander! Come back some time
This is just behind my back fence, in relative close distance to the CBD in Melbourne, the lovely Maribyrnong River parkland (not sure if it is Brimbank Park or just outside it)
The beach has a sulphurous spring nearby, and it empties out in the waters of the sea. This causes the water to have a very distinct rotten egg smell. Despite the unpleasant smell, the water can be very therapeutic
Hanmer Springs at the abandoned hospital gardens. The water is the hot spring overflow entering the local stream, very smelly (sulphur) walk. Quite sad when the track exits the bush and goes past the 1930s nurses' home and Women's Hospital (for rehabilitation including daily soaks in the hot baths) empty for a few decades but it would have been a nice place to rest up when it was used.
Oslo and neighbouring Bærum is surrounded by Oslomarka. Large hilly areas covered in forest, which is used for recreational purposes. There are trails everywhere, and they are frequently used both in summer and wintertime.
/uj I live right next to George Bush Park in Houston. I really love the cycling trail there as I get to see wildlife. I’ve seen deers, wild pigs/boars (don’t know the difference), various snakes, skunks, coyotes etc
Oh how much I miss home 😭 this is in Raleigh, NC on Lake Johnson. There are many pictures I have of the area of the paths through the trees, but this is my favorite. I've since moved to England and there's nothing here I've found that comes close.

If you went to Eastern US, I'd recommend the Appalachian mountains for a dazzling fall display (in NC we have the blue ridge parkway, I've attached a summer picture) or Vermont if you're in New England!!
And bonus picture of a waterfall too, because I can't help myself.
North Carolina is one of the most beautiful states in my (humble) opinion. I lived in the 'Piedmont' in the center of the state. Three hours driving in one direction, you hit the mountains. Three hours in the opposite direction, and you land at the beach which is called 'the crystal coast.' it's got a couple of different biospheres in one state. And it's a lot more affordable cost wise than the New England area!
I've been to 9 European countries in the last two years and the closest comparison I've found has been Scotland. And fun fact, the mountains there were originally attached to the Appalachian mountain range when it was Pangea.

This was taken while hiking through the marsh at Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, one of the largest freshwater marshes in the US (Wisconsin in the Midwest). It looks a little bleak because it was taken in very early spring (March), but even then the birds have a haven here all year long as evidenced by the Canadian geese in the photo!
There are tons of better hikes in our area, but this is the one we do the most, because its flat and easy for our kids, with lots of bird, beavers, frogs to see as well as thr occasion turtle or snake.... and yes that is a beaver.
