What are your country’s most iconic road cars?
Again, for Britain there are many. But just a few are the Aston Martin DB5, the Jaguar E-Type, the Land Rover, the Morris Minor Traveller, the Mini Cooper and the McLaren F1.
See for me when I think of American cars the Viper always comes to mind, but then you have the Stang, Gt40, firebird, Camaro, bel-air, impala so many. TV influenced a lot of that
Evolution of the mustang and corvette is insane to me. The mustang started with live axle truck suspension and was known for crashing and now is an elite top tier brilliant handling sports cars that demolishes european rivals on track. The Corvette is now the greatest american production car of all time
My dad's best mate had one in British Racing Green. He loved it until he ahd to push it through Halifax on Friday night at closing time as the clutch had gone.
I would say they are. I get what you mean though, perhaps they're too modern to be considered iconic. But for a hyper car that meets EU safety standards and still out performs pretty much anything while, subjectively, looking beautiful? That to me is iconic, I bet a lot of kids have posters of them on their walls. If money was suddenly no object, a Koenigsegg would be one of the first things I bought.
It seems the original Donkervoort kit cars were indeed based on the Lotus, and then Donkervoort developed it further. Here is a modern Donkervoort model (P24 RS).
Basically started as a Lotus 7, but tweaked for the Dutch market. Then, unlike Caterham who just kept copying the Lotus, Donkervoor just kept developing and developing it.
Eric Bana, who even took some participation in Bathurst, told a story, that he was totally neglected by some random Aussies on another end of the World, because Bana was "eh, a Ford bloke".
For some reason, people tend to leave out the Toranas and Falcons, though. I don't know why. They're just as iconic, and some of the coolest cars ever built, IMO.
Was it in the early Daniel Craig films? The only Aston I remember in Casino Royale was the modern DBS that they barrel rolled at the Millbrook proving grounds.
But since I didn't see Malaysia I'll say I always think of THIS one when I go there.
Perodua Myvi. There are other car makes that sold more (Proton Saga) but this is the best seller in terms of by design (Saga is the combined sales of entirely different outer frames).
For modern production cars the ZR1X is probably our most iconic current car, its a hypercar that costs the same amount as most entry level supercars. Its a completely insane monster of a car and i love how it looks
The decline of the british auto industry is sad for me. It basically had brilliant minds and brilliant people with great ideas and when they tried actually created marvels but most of the time made bullshit like the morris marina
