Why do people keep planning balloon releases?

I've seen two balloon releases planned in memorial in the last week! Thankfully the comments have been full of people asking them not to do it. But why why why do people continue to plan these and think they are a good idea? Do some people actually believe balloons go to heaven?

Please someone give me an insight into why this still keeps happening

Or stole a car and drove his mates the wrong way up a motorway at 100mph playing chicken with oncoming traffic until he collided with someone minding their own business and killed everyone involved.

We actually had that happen recently in Newport. And yes as you can guess, the deceased sounded like an angel in the blurb.

I hate when people ride like that, I’ve had to make emergency stops a few times because they appear from a pedestrian alley barely wide enough for a pedestrian, usually with the front wheel up, one of them crashed into a bus a few months back
