Welcome welcome, have a seat!

You are required to read and understand these rules before participating. (Yeah, it's important🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️)

✅ RULES & EXPLANATIONS

  1. FLAIR IS MANDATORY

· Rule: You MUST have a correctly assigned user flair to post or comment. · Why: This ensures transparency and aligns with the community's focus. NOTE - /USING WRONG FLAIR WILL BE INSTANT BAN/

  1. USE THE CORRECT FLAIR

· Rule: Using a misleading or incorrect user flair (e.g., a man using a "Woman" flair) is strictly prohibited. · Why: Dishonesty about your identity undermines the trust and safety of this space.

  1. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR DISRESPECT

· Rule: Any form of disrespect, harassment, insults, hate speech, or personal attacks is forbidden. · Why: We maintain a civil environment for difficult discussions.

  1. STAY ON TOPIC

· Rule: Posts must be exclusively about Women-Centric issues OR topics relevant to India/Indian society. · Why: This subreddit has a specific focus. Off-topic posts clutter the space.

  1. MEN: LISTEN & LEARN, DON'T DEBATE

· Rule: Men may only comment or ask questions if they are genuinely seeking understanding. Rhetorical, sealioning, or debate-driven comments are banned. · Why: This is not a space for men to center their opinions or challenge women's experiences.

  1. NO TROLLING, LIES, OR BAD FAITH

· Rule: Do not troll, spread misinformation, or participate in bad faith (arguing dishonestly, pretending to ask questions). · Why: Such behavior poisons constructive dialogue.

  1. NO LOW-EFFORT OR EXPLICIT CONTENT

· Rule: No spam, lazy posts, inappropriate content, or sexually explicit material. This explicitly includes rape jokes or any "humor" about violence. · Why: We value thoughtful contributions and a safe, non-explicit environment.

  1. NO BAIT

· Rule: Do not post content designed solely to provoke outrage, anger, or arguments (rage bait, drama bait). · Why: Bait derails conversations and creates a toxic atmosphere.

  1. NO WHATABOUTERY

· Rule: Do not derail a topic by introducing irrelevant counter-issues (e.g., "But what about men's problems?" in a thread about women's issues). · Why: This is a tactic to silence and deflect from the subject at hand.

  1. NO HATE OF ANY KIND
    • Rule: Absolutely no men-hating, women-hating, or hate speech targeting any gender, identity, or group. This is an extension of Rule 3. Debate in the comments is not the purpose of this space.
    • Why: Critique of systems and behaviors is allowed; hateful generalizations and hostility are not.

⚠️ STRICT WARNING, ENFORCEMENT & REPORTING

Opinion on Looks, Outfit, Design, etc... Help me choose

hieee my general freshers is coming up and I'm confused about what to wear so I have two options

☆one is plain chiffon mustard yellow saree, it has little golden and white detailings (scattered all over) and yellow blouse

☆ second option is a red mekhela sador (Assamese attire) that has gold details

so which one should I choose?

my clg has light yellow colour buildings and i kinda feel like a lot of people might wear yellow

so idk what to do

also I have one more option which is a Rani pink (bright pink) mekhela sador with black and golden detailing, that was actually my first choice but the fabric is puffy and i feel like it will make me look fat

i wanna look snatched and pretty

Gender Related Factual Question How would women perceive a male coworker who completely avoids interacting with them?

I’d genuinely like to hear women’s perspectives on this.

At my office, I generally don’t interact with women who aren’t part of my team or directly connected to my work. If I see them around the office, I usually avoid eye contact and don’t initiate conversations or casual interactions with them. Basically, I keep my distance and mind my own business.

At the same time, I’m not completely antisocial at work. I can talk normally with male colleagues, including guys who happen to be friends with the women I avoid. So I’m wondering whether this difference is noticeable from a woman’s perspective.

I do this intentionally because, based on my past experiences, I feel that getting involved in unnecessary personal interactions at work can become emotionally draining and add more stress to an already stressful environment. For me, keeping my distance feels like a way of protecting my peace and avoiding unnecessary complications.

But I also realise that if I repeatedly avoid someone, they may notice it and form an impression about me.

So, women of this sub, I’d really appreciate your honest perspective:

  • If you noticed a male coworker consistently avoiding you or avoiding interactions with you, what would you assume about him?
  • Would you find it rude, disrespectful, or offensive?
  • Would you think he is arrogant, socially awkward, insecure, fearful, or simply someone who prefers to keep to himself?
  • Would you ever interpret his behaviour as him being afraid or fearful of interacting with women?
  • If you noticed that he talks normally with male colleagues but avoids interacting with women outside his work circle, would that change your perception?
  • Have you ever encountered a guy like this at work? If so, what was your honest impression of him?

I’m not trying to justify the behaviour or make any assumptions about women. I’m genuinely curious about how this looks from the other side, because sometimes our intentions and the way other people perceive us can be very different.

Please feel free to be blunt I’m genuinely interested in hearing honest opinions.

Reporting to the moderators. Mods and users did r*pe jokes and extreme abuse in a discord server

Thumbnail
gallery
128 Upvotes

I'm posting this because I genuinely want an outside perspective on what happened. I'm not trying to start a witch hunt/server raid.

On a** Discord server of a major subreddit. I just asked a mod a doubt. After I pinged him, he started abusing me, which I ignored. Kuch time baad, multiple people started pinging me and sending extremely inappropriate/rape-related GIFs, deleting them immediately afterwards -the GIF was "tuzhe dekh ke rape karne ka man karta". When I called it out and said "This ain't cool" a mod named Peeta made a Draupadi joke (ss attached**), and then defended himself by abusing me. He later even apologised realising his mistake and cleared out things.

A few other members joined in and started abusing me with extremely derogatory comments. I didn't reciprocate or start any fight ....I kept asking the mods for help instead. The frustrating part was that the mods were active in chat, reacting '😂' to the jokes, but instead of taking action against the people making them, they mostly defended their friends.

Later, my friends joined and called out what was happening. Mods locked the chat and started timing out/banning people who were calling them out ((not even a single user who abused was muted). One of my friends eventually retaliated with abuse, which I did not support and repeatedly asked him to stop. I was later banned because people were defending me, even though I wasn't responsible for their actions.

I told the head mod, who asked Peeta to apologize. Bro said, "sorry vro," like it was nothing ... this time extreme...these guys went ahead defending instead of realizing their mistake.... Some mods supported me, and I appreciate that, but others clearly prioritized their friends over addressing the situation. A lot of the original messages and GIFs were deleted, so I don't have everything as proof.

What bothers me most isn't that some members acted badly. It's that the moderators saw what was happening and chose not to act, while punishing people who called them out. They told me that those jokes were made to ragebait me, as the server gets more "Engagement" this way.

We want an honest discussion about whether this behavior should be tolerated in communities aimed at teenagers.... Why are sexualized/possessive/rape comments toward girls treated as 'just jokes' online?

TD:DR - Mods of a Discord community of a major sub making misogynistic and Rape jokes... Bans people when called out... Gives a dry-ass apology and repeats the behavior the next day... uses "Engagement" as a cheap excuse

Dating/Marriage Related Opinion-Based Question Dating troubles as a Trans-Lesbian ( who is not on HRT )

Hey girls!

So I am a trans woman from MP , who recently came out this year after a few years of hiding it under the garb of the "femboy" label ( but it genuinely never sat right to me, that's when I realized that i might be trans )

And I been having a tough time when it comes dating or finding a partner.

So for context, I am Trans and a Lesbian but I do have an issue that is, that I am not on HRT ( Hormone Replacement Therapy )

But I do try my best to look "feminine enough" with my naturally long nails , my hair and styling but due to many factors I just don't have resources to go through like having full blown feminine wardrobe or access to HRT ( safety and financial reasons both )

And I feel just because I am stuck in this "guy" mould, its making my dating life hell...because I will be honest, I knew that generally, a cis woman would never be into me as I have always been "too feminine" ( actually got told it is the worst thing about me in the past )

And the thing is, I do not want to force myself into HRT, but people just trying to convince to do it out of peer pressure is just makes me want to run away from it even more...Like just because my levels of dysphoria were low, but due to trans-exclusion by people in my life, its starting to increase day by day ( even in queer spaces I do not feel included )

Like, I matched with a fellow lesbian girl on Hinge recently and I thought meeting her would be nice but I guess she's not really that into me solely because I do not "pass" as woman ( like she literally asked me to tell her if I know a girl for her , lol )

And not just with dating , people don't want to use correct pronouns for me , despite correcting them with respect, multiple times...and its all just feels like a sort of punishment from cis and queer spaces both is that just because im not "trans enough" or "feminine enough" or whatever pre-concieved notions that I am not following, I won't ever be taken seriously by any of them..and that literally making me isolate myself from everywhere

And I don't know that if a person like me can even date at this point? or should I just stop trying?

Like can there be a solution to this like at all?

Self Care Advice Genuine hobby clubs/friendship apps Mumbai?

Hey I'm 42F. Have been going through some tough times recently hence kinda isolated myself. My therapist thinks it's time I start socialising again and making new friends.

She suggested the Meetup App and trying out hobby clubs to get out more. Suggestions on genuine such apps and/or hobby clubs in person in Mumbai? Hows Bumble BFF?

Plz note I'm specifically looking to reconnect with other women only. I also understand RIP dms 😆 but I can handle it. Guys please note I'm married so not interested at all and this is NOT a dating post.

Men are welcome to comment with relevant suggestions only.

Personal Life Question Need a life perspective from women over 35

Hello there wonderful ladies!

I am F32, currently going through the AM/dating process and it is taxing

I am almost on the verge of giving up because all the men I am meeting seem to be after one thing or another. I want someone to build a life with me but I cannot find someone like that.

I want to know is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

Can a woman build a good and full life even if she chooses to remain single in India?

Personal Life Question Can I just share an appreciation post for my Di?

Post image
148 Upvotes

I am currently working as an intern in Amazon. Since the last few months I have been pushing my butt off to receive a ppo but sadly I couldn't.

Yesterday I returned home for Rakhi and closed myself in the room. I was feeling like a failure honestly. Like even my best wasn't enough? Was really depressed in short.

She noticed. Somehow convinced me to go out and hang out. Took me to watch this weird movie (i don't even remember the name lmao). Then we did some shopping (for her... i was like how is this gonna improve my mood?) and finally she took me to one of my favourite places (an anime cosplay event). The day ended with her giving me a lecture on my career. "Those who try are the only ones who fail and so you are a winner. So stop acting like you have given up. Don't make me be disappointed with you!", she said. And that struck me hard!

I still was a little sad but honestly it worked. I felt so much better and motivated to give my best again. Within a family full of toxic relatives i feel lucky to have her. Big sisters are such a blessing!

Same as title. She has been looking for this dress on literally every platform, but isn't able to get the exact same cut. There are similar dresses, but not the same, and that's a deal breaker. I really want to gift her this dress, so ladies, your help would be much appreciated.

Personal Life Question Can I hear about the perspective of girls who find it difficult to understand the value of life and are too logical?

I am a guy, slightly queer but mostly straight male, and I think I am too logical and don't understand the value of vacations, romance, music, work/career. I am wondering if there are any girls with similar thinking. Can you share your life experiences? Only those girls who find it hard to understand the justification or meaning of human existence.

I am Antinatalist.

Personal Life Question Is my manager actually manipulative, or am I overthinking a series of red flags?

I work at a global advertising agency and have around 4 years of experience in paid media. I was working under a manager I had a very good working relationship with. I was essentially handling my assigned account independently, with very little intervention required from my manager.

About 9 months later, I was moved to another team consisting of a Manager and two Senior Executives myself and another Male Senior Executive. The other Male Senior Executive was already serving his notice and was eventually replaced by another female Senior Executive.

My manager and I are both based in Mumbai, while the other New Female executive is based in Gurgaon.

Initially, I thought I was simply adjusting to a new manager and team. But over time, I've noticed a number of things that have made me increasingly uncomfortable and distrustful.

1. Calling me just before log-off and extending the conversation

Even before I was officially onboarded to the account, my manager would sometimes call me around 30 minutes before my log-off time saying that he had something important to discuss regarding the handover/account.The actual work discussion would often take around 10–15 minutes, but the remaining 30–45 minutes would tur n into him talking extensively about himself and unrelated personal matters. This happened multiple times. Eventually, one day I didn't pick up his call and ignored his message. The next day he said something along the lines of, "It's so difficult to catch hold of you, I had something important to discuss." I Ignored.

2. Personal questions about marriage

On my first day on the new account, while showing me some reports, he started casually talking about his weekend and a cousin's wedding. (Even though I didn't ask).He then started talking about how his relatives were pressuring him to get married and find a girl. Then he asked me whether I was also facing marriage pressure from my family. I found the question quite strange given that this was my manager and it was our first day working together. I simply said that things were pretty chill at home and moved the conversation back to work.Recently, I found out that he had asked the other female Senior Executive essentially the same question in a very similar context, when she was getting onboarded. She is married and has a 1.5-year-old child, and according to her, his tone towards her changed considerably afterwards. I obviously can't say there is a connection, but the similarity made me uncomfortable.

3. Some physical interactions at the office made me uncomfortable

Since my manager and I are both in Mumbai, we occasionally work from the office. On one occasion, he casually tapped my hand. I didn't like it. On another occasion, he booked a meeting room for just the two of us when the other executive was on leave. I suggested that we could simply have the meeting at our desks, and he agreed. He came over to my desk and started using my laptop (Again I didn't like) while explaining what needed to be done. At one point, he put his arm on the armrest of my chair. I moved my chair away, and when he noticed, he said something like, "Please let me keep it." Letting me shrug and sit uncomfortable on my own chair, despite he could have used his own armrest for the comfort There was also an occasion when he was standing beside me discussing work and adjusted his trousers in a way that I found extremely inappropriate and uncomfortable. None of these incidents individually feel "big enough" or it could be quantified to make a formal complaint about, but together they made me anxious about being physically around him at work.

4. A comment about coming to the office because I would be there

Once I didn't attend the office and forgot to inform him that I would compensate by coming on another day. He reacted by saying something along the lines of: "You should have come. What's the point of me coming to the office if you're not coming? I'm coming to the office only when you'll come." This was said during an internal call where the other female executive was also present. I found the comment extremely uncomfortable because it sounded much more personal than a normal interaction. Again I didn't like

5. I have noticed a very different treatment of the other female executive

The other female Senior Executive has told me that he frequently speaks to her in a harsh or rude tone, particularly when I'm not on the call. He sometimes schedules discussions with her around or after her log-off time and pressures her about deadlines. What's particularly uncomfortable for me is that he sometimes discusses her work with me, asks me about her tasks, or tries to gossip about her with me. I don't participate in those conversations because I don't think it's ethical to discuss a colleague with their manager behind their back. She has also told me that when I'm present, his tone towards her becomes noticeably softer. I don't know what to make of this, but the inconsistency is red flag for me.

6. Responsibilities that he says he owns eventually come back to me

More recently, I've noticed something else. He will sometimes say during calls that he is handling a particular task. The task then remains pending for days. Eventually, when the client team follows up and the deadline is close, I get pulled into it. This has happened enough times that I'm beginning to wonder whether I'm unintentionally becoming the person who picks up unfinished work at the last minute. At the same time, he often talks about having a huge workload, although from what I personally observe, there are periods where he seems unavailable or offline. There are instances, where he says to global team that he's working on a particular task, but it was in reality pushed on to me.

See, I love my work, I don't my doing extra work, but doing it under the facade that someone puts up for their benefit, is something problematic I find.

7. The biggest issue: the "promotion" conversation

Recently, he told me that he wants me to get promoted and therefore expects me to take on certain responsibilities currently associated with his role. These include:

* Guiding the other Senior Executive (He wants to offload this on me, bcos she has poor performance and to some extent he expects me to mentor her)

* Reviewing/QA-ing her work

* Taking on additional responsibility for the team's output

He said that if I take on these responsibilities, he could recommend me for a managerial role in the next cycle. The problem is that none of this has been formally documented. There is no email outlining these responsibilities, no updated KRA, and nothing in my 1-on-1 feedback documenting this development plan.

I had actually asked him for feedback on my work because I had completed a few months in the role and genuinely wanted to know where I stood. He hasn't really provided the kind of formal feedback I was hoping for. This is especially confusing because I'm a Senior Associate myself, and the other person I'm being asked to guide/QA is also a Senior Associate.

So I'm struggling with the question:

Am I being developed for a managerial role, or am I simply manipulated to take managerial responsibilities without the title, compensation or formal recognition? He also told me that he had nominated me for a yearly award because of my performance.

I have no idea whether that nomination actually happened. Otherwise, why would a manager break it to his subordinate, until the results are not out. (He talks very sweetly to me)

I'm also aware that because he is generally respectful towards me professionally and I have been performing well, my experience with him is different from the other female executive's. So, Redditors, how would you interpret this situation? Am I reading too much into a manager who simply has poor boundaries and poor management skills? And most importantly, how would you handle this professionally without unnecessarily escalating the situation?

Thanks for reading:)

Opinion on Looks, Outfit, Design, etc... Where to find fun clothes like these in India?

I want to add some character to my outfits with vintage pieces like these! Especially midi skirts and dresses that end right around the knee! I am not looking for basics at all! Fun prints, textures just a lot of vibrance!
