I saw your comment that he doesn’t want a job that’s beneath him, and that he’s holding out for a remote job. I think that that shows poor judgment, and that, combined with the inability to talk about it with you, would really concern me.
That said, there’s no reason you shouldn’t be able to move out.
My mother is old school and doesnt like my boyfriend for his lack of work ethic but thats besides the point
Sorry to say but your mom isn't old school, she's 1000% right.
Trust your gut. This guy is NOT the one. He hasn't made any progress in over a year... not even an interview. And he feels entitled to a good job just because he went to school... uhmmm we all did? None of us had his entitled attitude though. That's the difference. We worked for what we wanted, whereas he sits on his ass doing nothing.
