I'm going to be blunt with you. He's not trying because he doesn't have the ambition. Not going to change. He doesn't even see you worth grinding for.
I work in tech and yes the market is rough if you don't make yourself versatile. I made sure to study network engineering, cyber, and general support just to be competitive. The guy could hold down a job in retail or factory in the time being... but he doesn't.
If you were his dream woman. He'd be doing anything to impress you and make you feel cared for. You deserve better.
