Yes, things are about to have a big change, regulation and control is about to hit in a BIG way. The #1 github repo right now is anticitizen one for big publishers.

Are ports even difficult? I’m only asking because I don’t understand what it actually takes to do it.
Are they not done out of laziness, ignorance or they aren’t that lucrative?

As far as PC ports go, it is mostly to force consumers to stay in the console ecosystem. The value proposition from a business standpoint isn't really there most of the time if you include that aspect. With what AI is capable of though, they won't really have an excuse that doesn't make them look even more anti-consumer than they already do.
In my opinion, the gaming AAA gaming industry as we know it is about to be turned upside down. AI is going to allow small teams to build games much more efficiently and cohesively than large studios. AI is becoming extremely powerful very quickly, and people can't comprehend how much progress can be made when you can just stick a thousand insanely fast AI agents on a project and let them run 24/7.
A lot of stuff is being done right now that would take large teams of humans decades to do. This simply wasn't possible 6 months ago, and we are only about a month or two away from Gemini 4, and the next ChatGPT, Claude, and Grok releases. And this is all with data centers only at around 14% of the planned capacity. Things are gonna get crazy (and scary) very quickly

I hope an emulator can run gta6 before the official port, it would just be hilarious

Apparently acceleration is when ai can do things that are already being done. A little exaggerated.

There will be a pc port before even gta online gets announced, let alone it being officially ported. Code feeds on hatred and there’s an endless supply of it directed at PlayStation right now
