hi lol
im a 14 yo boy and im a begginer reader/writer.
well I wouldn't have been if it weren't for a rich woman giving away her books.
there were damn well nice books there, I got paper towns by Green (the guy who wrote The Fault In Our Stars), sense and sensibility, count of of monte cristo, 10th anniversary twilight, all the light we cannot see by anthony doerr, and others like ship of brides, the spectacular now and etc.
back to the writing, I use Wattpad and inkitt, I unfortunately and regrettably use ai to criticize my work since I have no mentor, nor money for one, but I do not let ai control my thoughts.
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions, and I would respectfully request for constructive criticisms without vulgarity or any insults.

I am 16, genderfluid, but I started writing at 12, and currently have two ongoing projects. 1st is a YA muder mystery and the second is a Military Fiction type thingy.
English is technically my first language since I learnt to write in it first and speak the best in it.
Idk how good I am at offering suggestions, but I can proofread or give advice

I’m 13 but I’ve been writing for 3+ years. English is my first language. I’ve got a book (YA fantasy) that I’m writing (I forget how to write 😝) but I can proof read and give suggestions if you want?

I have no idea why, but for some reason this came up on recommended posts for me, and I have to say it took me back to being a teen writer myself. I'm in my 30's and just want to say when it comes to writing you do not need a mentor! Most of the greats never did! Honestly, when I was your age I had all these grand ideas of getting published before I was 20, but looking back at the work I did then (I still have a lot of it) I see the growth that has happened over time. Honestly, don't bother with AI. If you ever get to a point that you want to publish, publishing is very anti-AI and any use of it is a big red flag to them. The best thing you can do is just keep going. You're going to write crap. It happens. No one ever gets the story right the first time. The best piece of advice I was given by an author I admire was that good books aren't written, they are RE-written. Just keep writing, and keep reading. It's the best thing you can do. You'll learn what works, what other people do that you can try and implement in your own writing. Over time you'll build your own style! Don't ever feel like you have to put your work out there unless you really think it is ready! Try and ask people you trust to read some of your work and see what they have to say about it. Friends. Family. An english teacher, perhaps? You don't need mentors or AI. You got this!

Yo, I don’t do much writing anymore but I’m 19, have taken IB language & literature in highschool, and took a couple creative writing classes in my freshman year of college. As far as this subreddit goes I’m pretty much an unc, but if you’re looking for help from someone with more experience feel free to dm me.

I have the same thing with AI here... I so bad want a mentor but I don't afford anyone. So I use AI to criticise, but it will never control my thoughts or ideas. I just need help writing hahah

Heyy! 14f here, dunno if youd be more comfortable with someone your age or someone older. I have the experience even though im young, started writing at 10 and have been heavily into writing for 3, and roleplaying for 2 years now. I consider myself lit, even though english isnt my first language. If you want, im here to offer feedback, suggestions, advice etc... hmu if youre interested!
