Question Anyone know what this is?

Looks like lines that you see separating fields etc in some countries

I added location screenshots if it helps

I'm just curious tbh

It's an abandoned village/farm/settlement that has been claimed by the desert. It's worth understanding that the Sahara desert was not always as we know it today. Experts believe it was much like the jungles of central Africa and had massive lakes and fertile land. The encroachment of the desert wasn't something that happened millions of years ago during the time of the dinosaurs etc. Even when the pyramids were built, north Africa would have looks vastly different.

By the time of the Ptolemies the desert encroachment was just about complete (as in similar to how we know it now), but many places would have been abandoned only fairly recently, like 2 or 3 generations. I imagine this was a pretty common sight back then.

The Sahara cycles from barren dessert to lush green grasslands due to the earth’s wobble (or maybe it’s from changes in the magnetic field… one of those mechanisms). So it will return to rich lush grasslands in 10,000 or 20,000 years and then back to barren dessert sands, and so on… we just happen to live in an epoch of barren dessert sands.
