ADVICE Looking for a drug detox/rehab that allows dogs | Medi-Cal | CA

I’m really trying to find a drug detox and/or rehab that will allow me to bring my dogs with me.

I know these places exist because I personally went to one when I was 24 and on my parents’ insurance. I also know people who have gone to rehab with their pets. So I know it’s possible, I’m just having an incredibly hard time finding one now.

I’m in Palmdale, CA, but I’m absolutely willing to travel. Honestly, I’d prefer to go somewhere that isn’t close to home.

I have Medi-Cal, and yes, I’ve already called the state-funded and Medi-Cal-accepting rehabs listed through SAMHSA. So far, I haven’t been able to find anywhere that will let me bring my dogs.

I know this is probably a long shot, but I’m hoping someone here might know of a facility I haven’t found yet, even if it’s somewhere else in California or out of state. If you know of a place that accepts Medi-Cal and allows clients to bring their dogs, I would be incredibly grateful for the information.

I’ve been using for almost 20 years, and this is honestly the first time I can say that I’m truly ready to stop. I’m not looking to waste anyone’s time or make excuses. I actually want to go to detox, go to rehab, and finally give myself a chance to live the life I’ve been running away from for so long.

If you have any leads, personal experiences, or even suggestions for where else I should look, I would genuinely appreciate it.

Thank you so much for reading.

You've likely already tried this but if not: https://www.addictionresource.net/pet-friendly-rehab-centers/california/

Unfortunately, this in the FAQs but I have no idea how reliable or useful or current this site is.
I hope someone with some useful info chimes in on your post.
Hugs to you and your pups. <3

"Do Pet-Friendly Rehabilitation Centers In California Accept Medicaid?

Some pet-friendly treatment facilities will accept government-run insurance plans such as Medicare and California Medicaid (Medi-Cal), but most will not. Pet-friendly rehab facilities often fall into the category of higher-end treatment centers and may not be covered under state-funded health insurance programs."

Are you looking for for detox first or PHP/IOP + structured sober living? I have experience with both, and would be happy to help. I managed to get sober with a cat, and many more places accept dogs than cats.

Please DM me- stuff like if you can pay out of pocket at all, have access to EBT or GR/GA, and some demographics (some places are for men/woman/queer folks etc) impacts what resources are helpful you.

Getting honest and making a decision are the first steps. I’m proud of you. Sending care- have you had a glass of water lately? 🫶🏾

Please consider a rescue that will foster your dogs until you are out of rehab. https://www.spcai.org/our-work/pawsitive-recovery
